Calcium Fluoride can be used in the ultraviolet through infrared due to its high transmission from 250nm to 7um. It is typical used in cryogenics cooled thermal imaging systems. This material has also found use in high power and excimer laser optics due to its low absorption and high damage threshold. CaF2 can be used without
an AR coating because of its low refractiev index.
